LACI aims to pilot innovative technologies and business models to increase access to zero emission vehicles (ZEV), and introduce clean energy technologies to support the charging and maintenance of zero emission vehicles. Goals include incentivizing users to move away from internal combustion vehicles, demonstrating the viability and benefits of sustainable business practices, and reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) and air pollution emissions.
LACI will:
Establish an “innovation sandbox” in which to pilot a variety of zero emission transportation technologies and solutions;
Collect data on key metrics for deployed technologies;
Test pricing models, identify revenue/cost levers and perform financial analysis;
Identify policy gaps and needs to scale promising solutions and business models;
Inform the local residential and business community on the availability and benefits of shared ZEV services.
Based on the pilot results, LACI will share learnings about any successful technology and business model solutions that show potential for scalable results with our extensive network of partners in the transportation policy ecosystem. We hope to accelerate adoption of these/similar technology solutions among businesses throughout the region and state. To measure pilot scale-potential and impact, we will collect data on the usage and functionality of various solutions, as well as conduct qualitative surveys and interviews of participating businesses, individual participants, and community organizations. We will assess baseline utilization and user satisfaction and iterate over the course of the pilot to improve said metrics.
While all types of technology providers are encouraged to submit information, startups who respond may have the opportunity to engage with LACI’s Market Access Program to receive a variety of additional resources including hands-on support through pilot deployment design, partnership engagement, raising capital, etc. as well as potential to access to LACI’s internal debt and venture funding and paid interns from LACI’s workforce development programs. If a startup is invited to both pilot and to join the Market Access program, additional resources for the pilot may be available. Technology providers that have real estate needs in Los Angeles are also encouraged to submit responses if they are interested in establishing business operations at Warner Center.
Thank you!
